My personal pros and cons list
PhotoPhilia
is a highly customizable and user friendly photo viewer, album and photo editor that shows the EXIF infos.
It is also the best image batch processor I have seen, that is integrated in a photo viewer and editor.
Below the screen shot, I will tell you what I found to be convenient and what I was missing.
The pros:
| |
PhotoPhilia displays the size in pixels of the photo you are working on.
PhotoPhilia tells you the zoom factor of what you see on the screen.
Remember? these 2 are my fad!
Image batch processing with PhotoPhilia is very flexible and convenient thanks to the possibility to save batch scenarios.
I use some other viewers and editors too, but always come back to PhotoPhilia when I need to run a batch process.
Most layouts of PhotoPhilia are highly customizable to fit your taste.
Not only the photo viewer interface an the photo album interface,
but also the album manager, the mosaic interface, the data entry form, the search form,...
The size of the thumbnails you see when you browse through the folders is customizable.
PhotoPhilia pre-calculates and tells you the file size you will get when you save an image as a compressed jpeg.
It also shows a preview.
PhotoPhilia has 2 very convenient Crop tools
that allow you to crop either by (mouse) selection or by coordinates.
PhotoPhilia is also an easy to use photo album software with good support to detect broken links and to replace them.
PhotoPhilia has friendly slide show features as well in the photo viewer as in the photo album interface.
This is by far not an exhaustive list of PhotoPhilia's features, but rather a quick summary of functions I found most useful.

The cons:
| |
When working on a photo with PhotoPhilia some EXIF data get lost,
but the most important ones like exposure time, aperture, focal length, etc, are kept.
PhotoPhilia is able to rotate photos by any angle, but unfortunately without antialiasing.
Unfortunately PhotoPhilia does not offer manual levels correction based on an histogram.
The best way by far (in my opinion) to correct brightness and contrast of photos.
But it has an automatic levels correction called "stretch intensity".
Unfortunately PhotoPhilia does not offer white balance correction (or color shift) based on an histogram.
The best way by far (in my opinion) to correct color casts of photos.
Some kind of white balance correction will be build into the next version, the author said.
